“An impressive Riesling from an underrated terroir (Wine Advocate)”

“There is great depth and precision in this bouquet. It reveals inviting and subtle notes of pastries, flint, and yellow fruit. The wine is precise, delicate, and elegant. The salty attack gives way to a Riesling that is full-bodied yet incisive, pronounced, and sharp. This creates a balance between roundness and liveliness, between tension and fruit, while a subtle austerity reinforces the expression and persistence of the finish. A truly great wine with incredible energy on the finish. It is ready to stand the test of time and delight many palates!” (Yves Beck 2024)

Wine rated (2025 guide) 94+/100 (Outstanding wine)

About the wine:

The Clos Rebberg 2020 is deep, pure, and intense, with a well-concentrated, slightly herbaceous nose that reveals ripe, dense, and elegant fruit with deep mineral notes derived from the blue slate soils. On the palate, it is an elegant, refined, and intense Riesling—dense and round, well-concentrated and full-bodied—with fine tannins, delicate bitterness, and a certain richness balanced by its serious mineral structure. It is more generous than the 2021 and, although still young, almost ready to be served. Very long and aromatic, it is an impressive Riesling from a little-known terroir.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 95/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)

About the wine:

The Clos Rebberg displays a remarkable fruitiness; it is a wine that is still somewhat reserved but stunning in its purity and intensity, with a vibrant finish and exceptional length.

About the estate:

Antoine, the son of Marc Kreydenweiss, has been at the helm of this estate in Andlau since 2007; it is among the pioneers of biodynamics in Alsace. The diversity of the estate’s terroirs and their subtle interpretation have always been a strong point here, further enhanced by the changes Antoine has implemented (slower pressing and extended aging on the lees). The risks taken in vinifying many cuvées without sulfur (or with minimal levels) have paid off and result in no flaws whatsoever. A small range of wines made from purchased organic grapes has been launched under the label Lune à Boire. The Pinot Noir and macerated wines (not rated) are of the highest caliber. The standards have returned to the highest level with wines of rare vitality, and continue to deepen, with ambitious four-year aging for the 2017 Grand Cru Rieslings. These exciting wines, of rare vitality, have earned the estate its third star this year.

About the wine:

This Riesling was aged for two years in large oak casks. The bouquet offers great depth and precision. It reveals inviting and subtle notes of pastries, flint, and yellow fruits. It is ready to stand the test of time and delight many palates! 2026–2050
