"A gem in a bottle"

"Salty and straightforward in the glass, it will soon be ready, as the vintage lends itself to this. Fresh lemon and salt are the main characteristics. " (Le Guide Bettane + Desseauve). The body of this wine is both rich and full-bodied with a delicately mineral finish. It is a white wine with exceptional aging potential that will reach its peak after about ten years in the bottle. • Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 3 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Wine rated 95/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)

About wine:

Salty and straightforward in the glass, it will soon be ready, as the vintage lends itself to this. Fresh lemon and salt are the main markers.

About the estate:

The Ribeauvillé estate is slowly evolving to keep pace with the times. After shifting its focus to grand cru wines, Trimbach is now converting to organic farming (certification expected in 2023). The process will involve its grape and wine suppliers. Riesling reigns supreme here (55% of production). The terroirs are ideal: marl-limestone (Geisberg, Mandelberg, Clos-Saint-Hune au Rosacker) or granite (Schlossberg, Brand). The Frédéric-Émile cuvée blends the Osterberg and Geisberg grands crus. The 2017 and 2019 vintages will go down in history.

About wine:

The 2018 Riesling Clos Ste Hune is deep and intense on the nose, very generous yet refined and elegant, rich and lemony, indicating enormous richness. It is very harmonious. Very full-bodied, very intense and concentrated, but also lively and full of tension, this is a very rich and powerful CSH, yet elegant and very mineral, combining great finesse and salinity with power and substance. It is a giant. 14.5% alcohol declared. Natural cork.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 97/100

Rated estate (2023 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

More introverted, Clos Saint-Hune is built around a very firm core: particularly immature, it relies on a slender texture with precise bitter notes, offering phenomenal length and vibrancy.

About the estate:

A must-visit estate that stands proudly in the beautiful city of musicians, Trimbach delights wine lovers with its legendary Frédéric-Émile and Clos Sainte-Hune vintages. Depending on the vintage, Pierre Trimbach vinifies Riesling in a vertical style, always dry. His brother Jean manages sales worldwide. They are now supported by the new generation, Anne and Frédérique (Pierre's daughters) and Pauline and Julien (Jean's children). The family vinifies nearly 60 hectares of their own vineyards and around 100 hectares of purchased grapes. Certain grands crus have been claimed since 2009 and are allocated directly in small quantities by Jean Trimbach to the world's finest restaurants. The house undeniably contributes to the promotion of Alsace wines with internationally renowned vintages, while producing entry-level wines of consistent quality. The range of Pinot Noirs still has room for improvement.

About wine:

Heavy in texture and weight, yet so fine and elegant, this well-concentrated Riesling has a mouthwatering backbone of acidity and offers layers of durian, pineapple, pickled ginger, pink grapefruit candy, and stony minerals, with a long, savory finish. Refined and complex, it is just beginning to reveal all its facets. Drink now through 2035.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 97/100

About wine:

100% limestone (Muschelkalk) for the Clos Ste Hune terroir. The bouquet is precise, imposing, and subtle. The terroir begins to reveal itself, highlighting its chalky side while leaving room for floral and subtly fruity notes. On the palate, the wine does not fail to reflect the imposing side of the bouquet. It is full-bodied, precise, lively, but also elegant. The symbiosis between salinity, liveliness, and bitterness is exceptional. The wine clearly demands calm, time in the cellar, and our patience. It is important to have patience, because even if the level displayed today is magnificent, it will be even greater tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. 2028-2050
