Sophie et Guillaume Joncy

Winemakers in the family since 1619, the Joncys settled in Quincié in the Beaujolais region in the early 18th century at the Maison du Chavagnon, located in the midst of the vineyards, facing due south with a magnificent view of Mont Brouilly. For several generations, the Joncy family practiced mixed farming, raising cows and cultivating vines. The tradition continued through the generations until Jean-Paul took over the estate in 1978 with 5 hectares of Beaujolais-Villages. Guillaume, his son, joined the estate at age 18. Then Sophie, Guillaume’s wife, joined the venture in 2013 (she herself comes from a family of winemakers in Brouilly that has been in the business for six generations). Will their two children, Paul and Victor, carry on this same passion?Today, the estate spans 25 hectares across the following appellations: Beaujolais, Beaujolais-Villages, Beaujolais Quincié, Côte de Brouilly, Morgon, Régnié, and Chiroubles. The grape varieties cultivated are Gamay, Chardonnay, and Pinot. “The winemaker’s strength lies in enhancing and revealing the terroirs, highlighting the soil, the climate, and his passion.” Each plot is unique. The entire production is vinified and bottled at the estate in its new winery, built in 2014.
