(2015 vintage notes)

With its purple color, a sign of youthful vigor, Le Ronsay reveals intense aromas of fresh fruit, with hints of jam here and there. The palate is juicy, fruity, and harmonious. A delicious Beaujolais, just the way we like it!

Rated estate (2021 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Based in the small village of Charnay, Jean-Paul Brun is renowned throughout the wine region for his magnificent whites, which almost make us forget his delicious Beaujolais wines, such as Buissy, whose bouquet should be a benchmark for all Beaujolais producers. Cultivating 48 hectares across six different crus, Jean-Paul Brun has been proving himself a great winemaker every year for almost 30 years! In a Burgundian style, where Gamay pinotes (or, if you prefer, Pinot gamaytes), he chisels the noses and refines the palates with delicacy, sometimes in barrels, without ever seeking power. The 2017 vintage, more consistent than 2016, is a success for Jean-Paul Brun, particularly the luminous whites and the ever-exceptional Buissy-l'Ancien.

Wine rating (2017 guide) 14.5/20 (2015 vintage) (Good wine)

Rated estate (2023 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

From the luminous land of Pierres Dorées, Jean-Paul Brun, one of the pioneers of the Beaujolais revival, promotes his region, from primeur wines to the renowned vintages he has patiently acquired through his work in southern Beaujolais. Here, the identity of the terroirs is as strong as the digestibility of the vintages, in which we find the winemaker's velvety touch. Proof that it is possible to produce vintages that are both high in volume and high in quality. Whether white or red (and also sparkling), wine lovers are sure to enjoy the consistency of the wines and the personal and flavorful interpretation of the terroirs. He was recently joined by Tristan Larsen to assist him.

Four glasses as a rating for this wine is a lot, but it deserves it. Low in alcohol, light, tangy... its "almost" natural character... what a delicate and delicious freshness. It remains to be seen whether its aging potential is also limited, but I won't wait until summer to find out!
