The estate’s “Le Château Fleur Haut Gaussens 2016” [...] reveals lovely aromas of blackberry, cedar, and forest on the nose. The medium-bodied palate is lined with velvety tannins that leave the palate silky smooth. There is plenty of freshness here, very concentrated with impressive structure and density on the finish. What a superb Bordeaux Supérieur! It’s well worth seeking out. ” (Wine Advocate 2017 - Neal Martin)

Wine rated (2016 guide) 90/100 (Excellent wine)
About the wine:
Château Fleur Haut Gaussens 2016 is a blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc/Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Malbec. At first, there is a hint of slight reduction on the nose, though this quickly fades to reveal lovely aromas of blackberry, cedar, and forest. The medium-bodied palate is lined with velvety tannins that leave the mouth feeling silky. There is plenty of freshness here, very concentrated with impressive structure and density on the finish. What a superb Bordeaux Supérieur! It’s well worth seeking out.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
This 2016 vintage is somewhat influenced by the heat of the growing season, with fruit notes reminiscent of prunes and cherries soaked in brandy. The palate is tight, with slightly firm tannins. However, the wine’s minty freshness and long finish will allow it to age well.
About the estate:
From his family's vineyard on the right bank of the Garonne, located in Vérac near Fronsac, Hervé Lhuillier has created a true Bordeaux Supérieur brand, whose cornerstones are depth, authenticity, and careful oak aging. New vines of Sauvignon Blanc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, planted on exposed limestone (the quarries are open to visitors), will soon be in production. While the density-sorting machine has brought greater precision to the 2018 vintage, we remain somewhat unsatisfied with the rather exaggerated extraction and aging. Let's allow the wines time to settle before considering removing the star.
