“Merlot, which predominates on these clay-limestone soils, reigns almost unchallenged in this wine, accompanied by the two Cabernets. The color is intense: the nose, where black fruits mingle with notes of roasted coffee from a brief aging in oak, promises a pleasant palate, which is confirmed by the attack. The tannins give this 2011 good structure, but they will need two to three years of aging to mellow.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2014)

Wine rated 14/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommended production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the wine:
Delicate aromas of red berries, pepper, and peony; very full-bodied on the palate, with slightly firm tannins, and a lively, crisp finish.
About the estate:
For the past half-decade, this Entre-Deux-Mers vineyard has been winning over wine lovers with its full-bodied wines, featuring expressive fruitiness that blends beautifully with toasty oak notes.

About the wine:
A property spanning some 30 hectares on the right bank of the Dordogne, managed by Hervé Lhuillier since 1997. Merlot, which dominates these clay-limestone soils, reigns almost unchallenged in this wine, accompanied by the two Cabernets. The color is intense; the nose, where black fruits mingle with notes of roasted coffee from a brief aging in oak, hints at a pleasant palate, which is confirmed by the initial taste. The tannins give this 2011 a good structure, but they will need two to three years of aging to mellow.

Rated Estate (2022 Guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Starting with his family’s right-bank vineyard in Vérac, near Fronsac, Hervé Lhuillier has created a true premium Bordeaux brand, built on the foundations of depth, authenticity, and carefully balanced oak aging. New vines of Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, planted on exposed limestone (the quarries are open to visitors), will soon begin producing wine. While the density-sorting machine brought greater precision to the 2018 vintage, we remain unsatisfied with the somewhat exaggerated extraction and aging processes. Let’s give the wines time to settle before considering removing the star.

Very coffee-forward, not as good as the 2008...

Pleasantly fruity but with a dry finish and slightly firm tannins. Best enjoyed with a saltier dish to mellow the effect.
