Medium-bodied, it has an elegant texture, ripe tannins, and a lovely finish. A wine that evolves over time in the glass, it’s another magnificent success from this hidden gem of Bordeaux. ” (Jeb Dunnuck 2021). Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2023 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Yves and Stéphanie Vatelot are part of a generation of business leaders who became winemakers about twenty years ago. They have greatly enhanced the potential of this estate, both in the vineyard and in the cellars. With guidance from Michel Rolland, they produce red and white wines of exemplary quality and consistency, which rank them among the appellation’s leaders.

Rated Estate (2023 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
Yves and Stéphanie Vatelot celebrated their 30th anniversary at the helm of Reignac this year. From the very beginning, the couple has gone all out to position their Bordeaux Supérieurs at the highest level by following the advice of Michel Roland. With the arrival of director Nicolas Lesaint in 2009, cultivation methods have evolved to align more closely with organic practices. This effort is beginning to show in the wines, despite aging practices that are still somewhat intrusive. Extraction is more precise thanks to six small truncated-cone-shaped tanks designed to reflect the specific characteristics of each vineyard plot.

About the wine:
A blend of 67% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 8% Cabernet Franc from 40-year-old vines in St-Loubes, harvested from September 19 to October 17. [...] Medium crimson. Menthol-like, aromatic, and quite fresh on the nose. Richer on the palate without being overly pronounced. Interesting, with many more layers of complexity than most 2018 vintages at this stage of development. Not too high in alcohol. Quite refined, really. And long on the finish. A nice touch. My favorite red from this estate so far.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
The bouquet of Reignac is full of subtlety and freshness, with notes of black berries and eucalyptus. On the palate, it’s compact and delicious, where the wine slowly reveals its tannins on the finish. The acidity works behind the scenes to ensure harmony among the various elements. A real success!
Vert de Vin
Wine rated (2021 guide) 93/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is fruity and rich, offering moderate concentration, elegance, lovely finesse, a fine texture, and subtle intensity. It reveals notes of pulpy wild blackcurrant, blackberry, and, more subtly, crushed blueberries, combined with a subtle hint of strawberry, purple plum, as well as subtle hints of pepper and salinity, along with very subtle hints of licorice, lilac, and a pod of Bourbon vanilla, and a hint of caramelization. On the palate, it is fruity, mineral, and balanced, offering freshness, a tangy structure, juiciness, tension, a refined straightness, complexity, and a lovely texture. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackcurrant, crushed blackberry, and, more subtly, violet, combined with hints of ripe raspberry, nutmeg, cardamom, toasty notes, as well as subtle hints of chocolate, crushed plum, and a subtle hint of blond tobacco. A very subtle hint of pleasant bitterness on the finish/aftertaste

It's still a bit young (though it's from 2018). For now, it's a well-rounded wine (nothing stands out), with tannins that aren't harsh. I'm going to give it time to mature—about 4 to 5 years.
