“A model of success!”

"This is a beautiful, layered white wine with solid structure and intensity. It is full-bodied. Lots of grapefruit and dried green mango. 54% Sémillon, the rest Sauvignon. The best of all vintages." (James Suckling 2021)

Rated (2020 Guide) 5*Stars (Exceptional producers who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)

About the estate:

The estate now produces the exceptional wines that its terroir allows, with consistent quality and a complex yet carefully curated range of first and second wines, as well as two remarkable dry wines. It’s hard to choose between the sweet second wines—Lion, which is a bit more modern and exuberant, and the more classic Castelnau—because both are made without compromise, with a lovely roasted character from the grapes. Among the dry wines, S has a bit more density than the standard dry. Only Yquem manages to do just a tiny bit better, especially when it comes to aging.

About the wine:

I love dry whites from the Sauternes region, and this one is a good example—it shows why Sémillon is such an interesting grape to work with when creating dry whites with personality. It’s a bit less round on the palate than others from the region, but still has a slate-like texture and minerality that demonstrate how the soils here can work for dry whites, along with excellent notes of citrus and juicy white pear. 2021–2026

Rated wine (2021 guide) 89–91/100 (Excellent wine)

About the wine:

It gets off to a flying start with vibrant hints of freshly squeezed lime, lemon meringue pie, and Granny Smith apples, along with notes of dill seeds and white pepper. The medium-bodied palate offers an impressive silky texture and a sleek structure that cuts through the citrus and apple flavors, finishing with an endless length. 2023–2029

Wine rated (2022 guide) 91/100

Rated estate (2020 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

This lovely wine has depth. Clean and full of flavor, it deserves to age for 2 or 3 years in the bottle.

About the estate:

This vast estate was acquired in 1992 by AXA Millésimes. Thanks to a geographically well-distributed vineyard, Suduiraut combines the power of Haut-Sauternais wines with the prestigious fruitiness found in the wines of the Preignac and Barsac plateaus. The result is a complete nectar, very slow to age, and which, in great vintages, borders on genius. The latest vintages have reached a very high standard.
