"Formerly known as Blanc Sec de Suduiraut, this Gem a real delight to taste!"

“The 2023 ‘Lions de Suduiraut’ dry white wine is outstanding. Bright and vibrant, it offers notes of ripe pear, ginger, white flowers, and chamomile. The 2023 strikes me as a bit richer and creamier than some previous vintages, but that’s not a bad thing for a wine meant to be bought and enjoyed within a fairly short timeframe. A real treat.” (Vinous 2025)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 5*Stars (Exceptional producers, those who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)

About the estate:

The estate now produces the exceptional wines that its terroir allows, with consistent quality and a complex yet carefully curated range of first and second wines, as well as two remarkable dry wines. It’s hard to choose between the sweet second wines—Lion, which is a bit more modern and exuberant, and the more classic Castelnau—since both are made without compromise, featuring a lovely roasted character in the grapes. Among the dry wines, S has a bit more density than the standard dry wine. Only Yquem manages to do just a tiny bit better, especially when it comes to aging.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

With aromas of linden blossom, orange peel, and iodine, the nose hints at a fresh, linear palate. A pure delight, perfect for your summer gatherings or to be served at a high-end picnic, bearing the Suduiraut name. The majority of Sémillon lends opulence to the mid-palate. I appreciate the balance between acidity and alcohol. Barrel aging will give it more definition and body, allowing it to achieve a higher rating. 2024–2028

Rated estate (2020 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

This vast estate was acquired in 1992 by AXA Millésimes. Thanks to its geographically diverse vineyards, Suduiraut combines the power of Haut-Sauternais wines with the prestigious fruitiness found in the wines of the Preignac and Barsac plateaus. The result is a complete nectar, very slow to age, and which, in great vintages, borders on genius. The latest vintages have reached a very high standard.
