Rating: Decanter 4****
A beautifully crafted Haut-Médoc from sandy gravel soils over a clay subsoil. This wine is already very expressive, with lively, intense aromas of black fruit, and on the palate it is powerful and opulent without being soft, featuring ripe tannins that give it a round, silky attack. A complete wine!

Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Owned by wine merchant Patrick Bernard (Millésima), Peyrabon produces two wines. The first, from the Haut-Médoc, is easy to drink and has moderate aging potential. The second, named Fleur de Peyrabon, comes from well-located vineyards in Pauillac (4 hectares), but the extraction and aging process sometimes give it a slightly dry character. The wines are well-structured and offer good value for money.
