Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 19/20 (Wine of exceptional quality)
Rated estate (2020 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About wine:
A subtle, mature bouquet enhanced by very elegant smoky oak and splendid floral notes, with a voluptuous body and a slender, dynamic depth. Brane-Cantenac calmly continues on its path of excellence, which now places it at the very top of the Bordeaux rankings.
About the estate:
The wine owes its class and character to the heart of the Cantenac plateau and its deep siliceous and clayey gravel soils, which the vineyard shares largely with Rauzan-Ségla. Under the direction of Henri Lurton, it displays a rare consistency, with a suppleness and aromatic finesse all its own, making it sought after by wine lovers who appreciate a fine Margaux. In the most recent vintages, it seems to have taken another step forward in terms of the precision with which it expresses its terroir. The second wine, Baron-de-Brane, shares the same aesthetic with a suppleness in the tannins that should appeal to many restaurateurs and wine lovers.

About wine:
The 2015 Brane-Cantenac is medium to deep purple-garnet in color with a nose of crushed black fruit and chocolate-coated cherries with hints of fried herbs and tilled earth. Medium-bodied, refreshing, and elegant on the palate with supple tannins, it has a hint of herbaceousness on the finish.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About wine:
Very full-bodied, fleshy, and above all endowed with precise, intense fruit. This complete wine offers great elegance and intensity, with class on the finish.
About the estate:
This second growth is managed with conviction and talent by Henri Lurton, who has both a beautiful terroir and modern facilities at his disposal. He produces very fine wines, in what could be described as the Margaux style, without heaviness or stylistic affectation, but with delicate fruit. The estate has just produced a series of impressive vintages that are propelling it to the top of the appellation. It's time to enjoy it.

About wine:
Rich, fruity, and with great potential, this mature wine is also dense with firm tannins. Its juicy fruit is part of a whole with concentrated tannins and smoky wood flavors that allow for long aging. This is an impressive wine from one of the Margaux estates owned by the Lurton family. Drink from 2025 onwards.
