Château Haut-Bailly
Château Haut-Bailly was founded in 1630 by a Parisian banker named Firmin Le Bailly. However, its history was profoundly shaped in the 19th century by an extraordinary figure: Alcide Bellot des Minières, who brought scientific rigor to its management and raised its reputation to that of the "Premiers Crus." After him, various owners succeeded one another.
Daniel Sanders acquired Château Haut-Bailly in 1955 and set about restoring it by returning the vineyard to its original size and equipping it with the machinery and tools essential for producing a quality wine. Since 1979, his son Jean Sanders has taken over and completed his work. The distinction, bouquet, richness, and color, along with their fine development and structure, make the wines of Château Haut-Bailly wines of great pedigree, worthy of a place among the foremost great wines of France.
The current owners, Robert and Élisabeth Wilmers, are committed to prioritizing quality above all else at every stage of production and wine selection. Château Haut-Bailly was, in fact, one of the very first to produce second wines; in 1967, the finest batches that lacked the desired structure for the first wine were released under the name “La Parde de Haut-Bailly.”
