" Finesse was already Olivier's signature during the Primeurs tasting. It remains delicate and elegant, displaying aromas of red berries followed by a hint of mint. Its delicious, velvety character on the palate makes it very accessible, while its acidic structure contributes to a pleasant freshness. An elegant and flavorful wine. Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
This magnificent property on the outskirts of Bordeaux has managed to preserve, in addition to its 55-hectare vineyard, a large area of forests and meadows. In the early 2000s, the Bethmann family carried out major work and entrusted the management of the estate to Laurent Lebrun. His rigor and keen analysis of the terroir have led to a significant improvement in the quality of the wines. The white wine, which traditionally contains a good proportion of Sémillon, has become complex and elegant, with a strong personality. The 2017 vintage blew us away. The reds, which are much better vinified, express their excellent terroir with greater precision. They are expressive and energetic.

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
In just ten years, this Graves cru classé has undergone one of the most significant transformations in the appellation. Under the leadership of Laurent Lebrun, the wines have reached an excellent level, and the commitment of Alexandre de Bethmann, the owner, is undeniable. The latter has mobilized significant financial resources to restructure the vineyard. It must be said that this property is absolutely magnificent! Nestled in the middle of a wooded area, it is based on a gravelly terroir located on a splendid, well-ventilated hilltop, ideal for producing very fine Cabernet Sauvignon wines. The latest vintages produced are testament to this new dynamic.

About wine:
Tobacco, blackcurrant, and minerality. Ash, too. Full-bodied with very polished, juicy tannins that are firm. Wonderful finish. Give it three or four years to come together.

Vert de Vin
Wine rated (2021 guide) 92-93/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About wine:
The nose is fruity and offers a certain racy power, a fine grain, and a certain intensity of finesse. There are notes of pulpy blackberry, pulpy raspberry, and, more subtly, fleshy red berries combined with hints of violet, zan, racy minerality, and a subtle hint of purple berries and spice. The palate is fruity, balanced, racy and offers elegance, a lovely acidic structure, good definition and a little richness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry, juicy raspberry and, more subtly, bright red berries, combined with a hint of juicy cherry, violet, licorice, subtle hints of cardamom and a discreet hint of vanilla. The tannins are precise, refined and racy. There is a very subtle hint of toast/coffee in the background. Good length.

About wine:
This is a superb vintage for Château Olivier. Rich, silky, velvety, and refined, the fruit is as good as it feels on the palate. Elegant, fresh, and pure, it has length, energy, and complexity with a fabulous sensation of richness on the palate that accompanies you right through to the finish. Give it a few years in the cellar and it should really start to shine.
