"It remains one of the best whites you can buy in Bordeaux! ~ Decanter"

"Beautiful quality, with a slight acidity on the attack. It seems to have moved away from the slightly reductive style of Château Olivier whites in recent years (I may be part of the minority who miss this), highlighting fleshy citrus and lemongrass flavors, accompanied by notes of spices and freshly cut herbs. It remains one of the best whites you can buy in Bordeaux." (Decanter 2021) - Delivery in wooden crates is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

This magnificent property on the outskirts of Bordeaux has managed to preserve, in addition to its 55-hectare vineyard, a large area of forests and meadows. In the early 2000s, the Bethmann family carried out major work and entrusted the management of the estate to Laurent Lebrun. His rigor and keen analysis of the terroir have led to a significant improvement in the quality of the wines. The white wine, which traditionally contains a good proportion of Sémillon, has become complex and elegant, with a strong personality. The 2017 vintage blew us away. The reds, which are much better vinified, express their excellent terroir with greater precision. They are expressive and energetic.

Wine rating (2023 guide) 2 stars (Outstanding wine)

About wine:

Very elegant in its pale gold color, this 2020 vintage displays its youthfulness through the liveliness of its bouquet of white flowers and hazelnut on a background of fine wood. On the palate, it is well-balanced, both tender and fresh, developing delicious flavors of honey and toasted almonds. A lovely bottle for aging.

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

In just ten years, this Graves cru classé has undergone one of the most significant transformations in the appellation. Under the leadership of Laurent Lebrun, the wines have reached an excellent level, and the commitment of Alexandre de Bethmann, the owner, is undeniable. The latter has mobilized significant financial resources to restructure the vineyard. It must be said that this property is absolutely magnificent! Nestled in the middle of a wooded area, it is based on a gravelly terroir located on a splendid, well-ventilated hilltop, ideal for producing very fine Cabernet Sauvignon wines. The latest vintages produced are testament to this new dynamic.

About wine:

Lively, tight, and mineral, the wine is both crisp and textured. Citrus and green fruits lend freshness and spicy flavors. The wine will develop great finesse as it ages.

About wine:

Lots of aromas of pear, honey, ginger, and dried pineapple. Full-bodied. Robust and tangy on the finish. A white wine that is very typical of this appellation. Ready to drink now, but will be at its best in 2024.

Land of Wines

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2021 guide) 93/100

About wine:

This is a very balanced, high-class wine. The nose offers notes of jasmine, cedar, and acacia. The tannins are fine and dense, like stretched silk, and the delicate minerality gives the wine length. A tart, persistent lemon note tempers the liveliness. Château Olivier confirms its very high standard.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 93/100

About wine:

Crushed stone, waxy lemon, grapefruit, flowers, green apple, and lemon oil burst from the glass. Bright, fresh, creamy, and juicy, with Meyer lemon, mandarin orange, and a drop of honey on the palate, it is already showing very well.

Note and opinion by Mr. VINCENT L. Published on 09/08/2024

This is the wine to bring out to silence anyone who doubts that great white wines can be made in Bordeaux! The nose is impressive and transporting, and on the palate, it is the best Sauvignon Blanc-dominated wine I have ever tasted, with such citrus flavors that you come back to it again and again. Absolutely perfect with seafood.
