"His potential is obvious and his straightforwardness admirable. Highly recommended!"

"Talbot 2020 is just as impressive as it was in barrel. The strong Cabernet Sauvignon inflections are expressed first in the bouquet, then in the rich, expressive palate of black cherry and plum. A powerful, imposing Saint-Julien, Talbot is fabulous in 2020. I love the fullness and overall intensity of this wine, but there's just as much concentration to maintain the balance. The 2020 is superb, certainly the best in recent memory." (Vinous 2022) - Delivery in wooden case possible for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected)

Bettane & Desseauve

Wine rated (2021 guide) 96-97/100

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

One of the Médoc's most justly popular estates, it is still owned by the Cordier family. It gives rise to an abundant production, which has gained in definition since 2014. For many, Talbot embodies the ideal saint-julien, generously bouqueted, very stable and sure to age. A lovely dry white wine, aromatic and nervous, continues to be produced under the caillou-blanc brand. The intelligent work carried out with the help of Stéphane Derenoncourt in a skilfully modernized vat room and cellar is bearing fruit.

Decanter

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

This is a great Talbot, a real success story for the château. Subtle, skilful touches are present throughout the tasting, from the smoky turmeric notes that creep into the black fruits to the refined aromas that accompany the wine's body. Balance and freshness, with an extremely appetizing saline finish. Jean-Michel Laporte has been at the helm of this wine for three years, and he's doing an excellent job. 2026 - 2040

Wine rated (guide 2024) 3*Coup de Coeur (Exceptional wine)

About the wine:

A great Talbot, high-precision and wildly energetic. The color is dark, intense and clean. The nose is in tune with the wine, with deep, complex aromas of coffee, pepper, crushed strawberry, cherry and tobacco. But it's on the palate that the wine asserts itself, with exceptional class: ample, round, fleshy, juicy, terribly seductive for the silky, delicate touch of its tannins and its great freshness that pushes the finish far, far away. Irresistible, and for a long time. 2028-2040

Wine rated (2023 guide) 95/100

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the wine:

The wine is well-built, with plenty of substance, but there's a hint of wood at this stage. Nothing dramatic, but it will settle and harmonize. Its potential is obvious and its straightforwardness admirable.

About the domain :

This strong brand, rightly appreciated by connoisseurs, has made a strong comeback, now making the wines we've come to expect from it. Equipped with modern, high-performance equipment and skilfully managed, Nancy Bignon-Cordier's vast vineyard, managed by Jean-Michel Laporte, is returning to the glory of its past, producing wines that are more subtle and refined than ever. A flamboyant wine, archetypal of the great classic Saint Julien.

About the wine:

Exuberant, with generous notes of plum sauce, licorice root, blackberry compote and apple wood vying for attention, while graphite and cast-iron accents continue in filigree. A hint of exotic toast enhances the finish. Best between 2030 and 2040. Highly recommended.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 96/100

About the wine:

A nose that welcomes with confidence, with lovely aromas of coffee, tree-picked red and violet fruit, and a hint of dahlia. This is an exceptional Talbot, with a taffeta-like texture, rich, dark chocolate notes, a saline edge, and a length and chewiness that almost make it a meal in itself! 2028 - 2048

Terre de Vins

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2021 guide) 96/100

About the wine:

Talbot 2020 picks up speed with concentrated, well-established fruit, clarity and drive. With its streamlined body, the wine is well "in its lane", rather straight, with length and allongevity, supported by a fine tannic structure and concluded by a lovely freshness. Clean and dynamic.

Yves Beck

Yves Beck

Wine rated (2022 guide) 97/100

About the wine:

Talbot 2020 builds to a crescendo, highlighting the benefits of aeration in the context of a young wine. It begins with roasted notes, quickly followed by blackcurrant and eucalyptus, then classic cedar and graphite. The last two points refer to the terroir, which is clearly evident. Beautiful plurality on the palate, with sweetness, power and energy. Dense, fine-grained tannins follow a slightly sweet attack. Thanks to the temperament of its structuring acidity, the wine shines with freshness and persistence. Add depth and precision, and everything comes together to underscore the greatness of Château Talbot 2020! An exciting, brilliant, convincing wine! 2027-2047
