Bettane & Desseauve
“Full-bodied on the palate, with a hint of limestone on the finish and a lovely fresh aftertaste.” (Bettane & Desseauve Wine Guide 2019) A powerful wine balanced by a refined, elegant structure, with intense black fruit, spice, and licorice notes. A wine with aging potential.

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2021 guide): 2* Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About the wine:
Full-bodied on the palate, with a hint of limestone on the finish and a lovely fresh aftertaste.
About the estate:
This small estate comprises 8 hectares of vineyards, scattered between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune. Founded in 2009 by Olivier Decelle and Pierre-Jean Villa, it has been managed from the outset by Jean Lupatelli, a talented individual who oversees vineyard management and winemaking with great insight. The estate rounds out its lineup with a few supplementary purchases totaling the equivalent of two hectares from historic appellations that have been part of the brand since its inception, using grapes harvested by the estate’s own teams. The 2018 reds are soft, charming, and richly fruity and floral, clearly reflecting their origins.

Rated Estate: Award-Winning Wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
Founded in 2009 by two partners from outside Burgundy — Pierre-Jean Villa (northern Rhône Valley) and Olivier Decelle (Mas Amiel in Roussillon, Jean Faure, Haut-Ballet, and Haut-Maurac in the Bordeaux region), supported by their oenologist Jean Lupatelli — this Nuit-Saint-Georges-based company (wine merchant and estate) has now established a solid foothold in Burgundy.

Rated Estate (2022 Guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Founded in 2009 by two leading figures in the wine world, Olivier Decelle (Mas Amiel in Roussillon and Jean Faure in Saint-Émilion) and Pierre-Jean Villa, a winemaker in the northern Rhône Valley, this estate stopped purchasing grapes in 2017. Previously known as Decelle-Villa, it became Decelle et Fils in 2020. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, it relies on organically farmed vineyards it owns in the Côtes de Beaune and Côtes de Nuits. The skilled winemaker Jean Lupatelli crafted wines of excellent quality here, using 20 to 50 percent whole clusters in the reds, but he recently left the estate in the spring of 2021.

Very disappointed. The 2015 vintage opened up in 2024 but was flat and lacked depth.
