"A fine example of the charms of the Aligoté grape variety, according to Jancis Robinson—an immediate delight for the palate!"

"A good introduction (and example) to the charms of Aligoté. Produced by the highly reliable Caves de Buxy, this wine is a real pleasure. Dry with lively acidity, it has a beautiful vibrancy on the palate that perfectly balances the fruity notes of lemon and lime zest. 2024-2026." (Jancis Robinson 2024)

Rated estate (2016 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

The Cave des Vignerons de Buxy, founded in 1931, currently has 342 members covering 1,164 hectares in the Côte Chalonnaise and Mâconnais regions and produces 75% of the wines from the Montagny appellation. The grouping together of a multitude of small family farms has enabled the creation of an efficient production tool, which is committed to a genuine approach to quality winemaking and production (Vignerons en Développement Durable). All of the wines presented in our blind tastings are of very respectable quality, demonstrating that the wine cooperative in the Côte Chalonnaise is active and capable of promoting its appellations. The value for money is extremely attractive for Burgundy.

Review and opinion by Mr. MATHIEU W. Published on 12/24/2025

Medium-deep straw yellow color. Nose: floral, white fruit, hazelnuts, and nettle. Quite expressive, pure, and refined. On the palate, a fresh and slightly salty attack of grapefruit and green apple, medium acidity, sufficient body, and some length with a pleasant bitterness on the finish. Pure and uncomplicated. Excellent as an aperitif (with a pleasant 12% alcohol content), but also with sufficient body and substance to accompany a meal. Another delicious Aligoté. Score: 16/20
