Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2020 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About wine:
An elegant fruitiness, a very pure palate but a minerality that is not yet in place, the finish dries well, patience. However, it does not offer the density of sap found in old vines.
About the estate:
We have been following this estate for some time now and are delighted with Charly Nicolle's serious approach and steady progress. Working the terroirs of Fleys, including the two premier crus Les Fourneaux and the easternmost part of Mont de Milieu, he produces a small range of wines with great density on the palate, bringing out the distinctive minerality of each cru. This is a sure bet for the sector.

About wine:
A pleasant minerality is evident on the nose, while the palate develops a rounded character with flavors of ripe citrus fruit.
About the estate:
Charly Nicolle's great-grandparents were already growing grapes. Following in the footsteps of previous generations, the young winemaker embarked on his own adventure. Based in Fleys, east of Chablis, he created his own estate in 2011, carefully tending his 17 hectares of Chardonnay vines, and has established himself as a reliable producer in the Chablis region. He also runs the family estate of La Mandelière.
