Eye
Pale color with green highlights
Nose
This beautiful terroir has produced a wine with a very Chablis-like nose, with petrol notes as well as hints of boxwood. The nose is very expressive.
Mouth
Precise as usual but also dense, it finishes with a beautiful expression of minerality. The length on the palate is remarkable thanks to a very pronounced mineral sensation.

Rated estate (2020 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
The Verget wine merchant is part of the Guffens-Heynen "trilogy," where Jean-Marie Guffens, supported by his loyal assistant Julien Desplans, has been applying proven methods to his elite estate since the 1980s, setting the global standard for Chardonnay. The spearhead here remains the Mâconnais, but purchases in the Chablis region are regular and, depending on the vintage, there are some fine vintages from the Côte de Beaune. Pre-order reservations are particularly wise as they offer the opportunity to purchase "non-terroir" wines with screw caps, proving that terroir is not always the determining factor in quality. Finally, it should be noted that this is the place to go for Guffens aux Tourettes and Verget du Sud wines, which offer unbeatable value for money, as discussed in the Rhône Valley section of this guide. An exemplary address.

Wine rating (2019 guide) 90/100 (Outstanding wine)
Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About wine:
The 2018 Chablis Cuvée de la Butte is a success, revealing lovely aromas of citrus oil, grapefruit, white flowers, and oyster juice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied to full-bodied, ample but stony, with racy acidity and a salty finish.
