"An exceptional wine worthy of the greatest"
"Composed of 28% Sémillon from Barsac (Closiot), 20% Viognier, and 20% Roussanne from the Tourettes estate, with 30% Burgundy Chardonnay added. Oaky? Everything is oaky except for the Chardonnays, first pressings from Guffens-Heynens. The Chardonnay certainly dominates the nose, but this first impression is striking for its complexity, beautiful toasted and grilled notes, and consistency from start to finish. The aroma is very impressive, very Guffens. The palate combines power and freshness, noble wood and a racy structure in perfect balance. Purity and texture worthy of the greatest wines. Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
The Verget wine merchant is part of the Guffens-Heynen "trilogy," where Jean-Marie Guffens, supported by his loyal assistant Julien Desplans, has been applying proven methods to his elite estate since the 1980s, setting the global standard for Chardonnay. The spearhead here remains the Mâconnais, but purchases in the Chablis region are regular and, depending on the vintage, there are some fine vintages from the Côte de Beaune. Pre-order reservations are particularly wise as they offer the opportunity to purchase "non-terroir" wines with screw caps, proving that terroir is not always the determining factor in quality. Finally, it should be noted that this is the place to go for Guffens aux Tourettes and Verget du Sud wines, which offer unbeatable value for money, as discussed in the Rhône Valley section of this guide. An exemplary address.

About wine:
A blend of Guffens press wine from Domaine Guffens-Heynen, Sémillon from Château Closiot in Barsac, and Viognier from Château de Tourettes in Lubéron, Vin de France Triangle de Guffens 2019 is an unprecedented wine. Blending aromas of yellow orchard fruits, pear, beeswax, dried white flowers, and apricots, it is full-bodied, silky, and harmonious, with an enveloping fruit core supported by lively acids. But perhaps most impressive is that none of its components dominates the final blend. Bottled with a screw cap, I suspect its longevity will surprise us.
