“The Chardonnay grape variety is showcased in an exceptional cuvée, leaving an indelible impression on the palate: extraordinary...”
"A magnificent, full-bodied wine that combines power and finesse, rich in ripe, succulent fruit and spices, yet underpinned by fresh, lively acidity. Grown on the southern slope of the famous Corton hill, it is rich in aromas of pears and crisp apples, enhanced by subtle notes of vanilla bean and cream. Made from organically grown grapes. Appealing now, but best enjoyed from 2030 onward.” (James Suckling 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2022 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
This historic winery, founded in 1831, is now run with great energy by Albéric Bichot, the sixth generation of a family whose presence in Burgundy dates back to the 13th century. Supported by Alain Serveau (technical director) and Christophe Chavel (wine director), these three musketeers have successfully built a unique model of a Burgundian winery, with Bichot-labeled wines across all the appellations of Greater Burgundy, as well as four estates rich in fine crus: Long-Depaquit for Chablis, Clos-Frantin for the Côte de Nuits, Domaine du Pavillon for the Côte de Beaune, and Domaine Adélie for the Côte Chalonnaise.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
This historic Beaune winery, led by Albéric Bichot since 1996, has not always been known for the consistency and quality of its wines. Things have changed significantly since then. Under the Albert Bichot label, you’ll find wines from six estates: Long-Depaquit in Chablis (see this address), Clos Frantin and Château-Gris in the Côte de Nuits, Domaine du Pavillon, Domaine Adélie in the Côte Chalonnaise, and Domaine de Rochegrès in Beaujolais. Each of these estates has its own winemaking facilities and dedicated teams, led by the general technical director, Alain Serveau.

About the wine:
A rich, intense nose—excellent! Much livelier than most other wines. Full-bodied and not at all cloying. Best enjoyed between 2026 and 2034.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
Subtle hints of spice waft from the glass before the palate unfolds into an explosion of flavors: crushed apples, pear compote, and a touch of chalky limestone. The balance between elegance and approachability is remarkable, and the finish—full-bodied and harmonious—is truly dignified.
