Domaine Jean-Marie Bouzereau

The Bouzereau family has been based in Meursault, where they have been growing grapes for more than 10 generations. Today, Jean-Marie Bouzereau manages a 9-hectare vineyard spanning the villages of Volnay, Pommard, and Beaune for red wines, and, of course, Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet for white wines.

At Domaine Jean-Marie Bouzereau, the grapes are harvested by hand when they are ripe but not overripe. The red grapes are sorted, destemmed, and macerated for a few days before fermentation begins without the addition of yeast. Aging takes place in barrels for a period that varies depending on the cuvée and vintage. The white wines are transferred to barrels after 24 hours of settling; they ferment in barrels without the addition of yeast and remain on the lees until the following summer. The use of new barrels is kept to a minimum and varies from 10 to 30 percent depending on the cuvée.
