"An affirmation of the Duval Leroy style, this champagne sublimates Chardonnays from the finest certified plots.

"Quite readable as a blanc de blancs with the citrus and verticality of this chardonnay more iodized than mineral, airy character on the finish, long persistence, good body, tasty. A fine wine". (Bettane & Desseauve 2024).

Wine rated (2024 guide) 92/100

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

Quite legible as a blanc de blanc, with the citrus and verticality of this Chardonnay more iodized than mineral, airy character on the finish, long persistence, good body, tasty. A fine wine.

About the domain :

Under the energetic and passionate leadership of Carol Duval, now supported by her sons, this house, established since 1859 in Vertus, in the Côte des Blancs, has never ceased to raise its standards. The company's own vineyards are extensive, covering 200 hectares, with a high proportion of Grand Cru wines from the Côte des Blancs. This represents a third of the company's needs, and it produces 5 million bottles a year. The cellar master is also a woman, Sandrine Logette-Jardin.

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rated (2022 guide) 92/100

About the wine:

Only Grands Crus from the 6 villages of the Côte des Blancs for this cuvée drawn in 2008 after 11 years on its lees. The nose, nicely evolved with notes of dried fruit and toasted almonds, preserves a clear freshness. On the palate, the wine's suppleness and volume are enhanced by time. What remains is a crystalline, vibrant quality that sounds good and calls for noble creamed fish.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 91/100

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the domain :

In the south of the Côte des Blancs, this family-run house has flourished under the direct and energetic leadership of Carol Duval-Leroy, surrounded by her sons Julien and Charles. A recent success story embodied by a dynamic widow as Champagne loves them. This Belgian hunting enthusiast has turned Duval into a modern, accessible brand, now a partner of sommeliers. The winery's surface area (barrel vinification, storage) has doubled since 2009. Sandrine Logette, one of the few female cellar managers, has been in charge of vinification since 2007. She perpetuates the spirit of innovation of an eclectic, predominantly Chardonnay range, with bubbles marked by creaminess and a fine waistline.
