Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

Under the energetic and passionate leadership of Carol Duval, now supported by her sons, this house, established since 1859 in Vertus, in the Côte des Blancs, has never ceased to raise its standards. The company's own vineyards are extensive, covering 200 hectares, with a high proportion of Grand Cru wines from the Côte des Blancs. This represents a third of the company's needs, and it produces 5 million bottles a year. The cellar master is also a woman, Sandrine Logette-Jardin.

About the wine:

A lovely, airy, delicate nose with notes of crushed toasted almonds, fresh grape juice and white chocolate. The palate follows suit, with a clean, fruity feel and a sapid finish.

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the domain :

In the south of the Côte des Blancs, this family-run house has flourished under the direct and energetic leadership of Carol Duval-Leroy, surrounded by her sons Julien and Charles. A recent success story embodied by a dynamic widow as Champagne loves them. This Belgian hunting enthusiast has turned Duval into a modern, accessible brand, now a partner of sommeliers. The winery's surface area (barrel vinification, storage) has doubled since 2009. Sandrine Logette, one of the few female cellar managers, has been in charge of vinification since 2007. She perpetuates the spirit of innovation of an eclectic, predominantly Chardonnay range, with bubbles marked by creaminess and a fine waistline.

An excellent Champagne, dominated first by brioche and vanilla notes and then by fruity ones. More than digestible on the palate, it's elegance and finesse pushed to the extreme. Everyone loves it.
