Champagne Duval-Leroy - Fleur de Champagne Brut 1er Cru

Under the energetic and passionate leadership of Carol Duval, now supported by her sons, this house—established in 1859 in Vertus, on the Côte des Blancs—has continually raised its standards. The estate’s own vineyards are extensive, covering 200 hectares, with a significant proportion consisting of grands crus from the Côte des Blancs. This accounts for one-third of the house’s needs, as it produces 5 million bottles annually. The cellar master is also a woman, Sandrine Logette-Jardin.

Founded in 1859, this company has been led by Carol Duval-Leroy since 1991. Its 200-hectare vineyard makes it the largest champagne house in the Côte des Blancs. While Chardonnay is often the sole variety in its cuvées, this one blends 15% Pinot Noir with the white grapes. All the grapes come from prestigious vineyards: grands crus and premiers crus from the Montagne de Reims, the Grande Vallée de la Marne, and the Côte des Blancs. A truly brilliant star shines on this champagne, which has a delicately floral and mineral nose and reveals on the palate aromas of citrus, white fruits, and honeysuckle within a beautifully balanced structure. The cellar’s floor space (for barrel vinification and storage) has doubled since 2009. Sandrine Logette, one of the few female cellar masters, has been overseeing winemaking since 2007.
