Domaine Comte Abbatucci - Cuvée du Général Collection 2010

Domaine Comte Abbatucci - Collection Cuvée du Général 2010

New vintage, 2009 was rated: RVF 17/20
A wine balanced by its richness and fullness. The aromatic persistence is long and very complex. The wood aromas are discreet and highlight its minerality very well. A very fine bottle!

Rated estate (2020 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

In this historic wine-growing region of Ajaccio, whose unique collection of old local white grape varieties has raised awareness of the moral and cultural obligation to diversify the grape varieties grown throughout Corsica, Jean-Charles Abbatucci practices impeccable viticulture with contagious generosity. The recent wines have the suppleness, naturalness, and smoothness one would expect of them, and have made significant progress in terms of consistency thanks to the collaboration between the owner and a remarkable consultant oenologist, Emmanuel Gagnepain. The Faustine cuvée shines with its pure finesse, while the great collection cuvées, Ministre, Général and Diplomate, offer the refined complexity of their pioneering grape varieties. New cuvées, Monte-Bianco, Alte-Rosso and Valle-di-Nero, are beginning to be produced, but the estate has not sent them for tasting. That will be for next year.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)

About the estate:

The history of this estate began in the 20th century with a visionary, Antoine Abbatucci, the founder of this wine nursery, a veritable conservatory of native Corsican grape varieties. Jean-Charles Abbatucci, Antoine's son, took the estate to a higher level (massal selections, demanding biodynamics, rootstocks adapted to the soil and climate, etc.). The entry-level wines are remarkable; in the magnificent blends, each grape variety contributes its own aromas, freshness, substance, or consistency. The wines are easy to drink and refined, thanks to the refusal to intervene excessively, and the aging process has been refined through the use of large oak casks and concrete eggs.
