Domaine de Disznoko
The Disznoko Estate ( “The Wild Boar Rock”) owes its name to a large rock located at the foot of the white pavilion overlooking the property, which, according to local residents, resembles a wild boar. The estate, classified as a “Premier Cru” in 1734, has belonged to several noble families. In the early 19th century, Menyhért Lónyay had the Yellow House built there, which served as the estate’s wine cellar at the time. This beautiful classical-style building now houses one of the region’s most famous restaurants.
In 1992, the Disznoko Estate was acquired by the AXA Millésimes Group. From that time on, a complete restructuring of the estate was carried out thanks to significant investments made in the property. Tokaj wines have regained their former glory.
A large portion of the Disznoko Estate’s vineyard has been replanted with Furmint and Harslevelo grape varieties. An aging cellar was carved into the rock near the new winemaking facilities. Committed to consistent quality, the Disznoko Estate produces the full range of Tokaj wines: Dry White Wines, Late Harvest, Aszú, Aszú Eszencia, and Eszencia, with the latter three being known as the “Gold of Hungary.”
