In true Calderara Sottana style, the 2022 Etna Rosso Contrada Calderara Sottana exudes captivating, mineral aromas of crushed ash-colored stones, toasted herbs, and dusty blackcurrant. It is smooth and enveloping, yet possesses a powerful core of dark red fruits, complexed by exotic spices. Firm tannins emerge toward the finish. Although young and intense, the 2022 retains a wonderful freshness thanks to lively acidity that gives it depth and fading notes of mint and licorice. It really packs a punch, but it also displays a balance that will allow it to age for a long time. 2026–2034
