About the wine:
This is a relatively recent addition to the Benanti portfolio. The 2022 Etna Rosso Contrada Calderara Sottana reveals aromas of dried fruit and blackcurrant, with notes of crushed rose petals and ground volcanic rock. The grapes come from a one-hectare plot located on the northern slope of Mount Etna, at an elevation of 685 meters, where the soils are rich in organic matter. The finish reveals a hint of ripe strawberry, but the wine remains impressive for its dense, refined, and elegant texture. Exactly 5,232 bottles were produced. 2024–2035

About the wine:
In true Calderara Sottana style, the 2022 Etna Rosso Contrada Calderara Sottana exudes captivating, mineral-driven aromas of crushed ash-colored stones, toasted herbs, and dusty blackcurrant. It is smooth and enveloping, yet possesses a powerful core of dark red fruit, enhanced by exotic spices. Firm tannins emerge toward the finish. Although young and intense, the 2022 retains a wonderful freshness thanks to a lively acidity that gives it depth and fading notes of mint and licorice. It really packs a punch, but it also exhibits a balance that will allow it to age for a long time. 2026–2034
