"Produced from the estate's century-old plot on the most volcanic slope of Mount Etna, this amateur cuvée leaves an unforgettable mark".
"Softer on the nose than the 2019; peonies, a touch of cigar. Back to that very Nerello Mascalese acidity of apricot and blood orange. Layers of flowers and striated stones, tannins reminiscent of satin and sand. Long acidity, long tannins, long finish, broad swirl, crushed plums and taffeta. Very tactile, it seems to pucker in the mouth and offer a larger surface area of flavor. I love this one. It arouses your curiosity, invites you to dive into it, question it and linger. Violets and punctuation. It has such a sweet heart. A kiss of peach and red cherry. 2025-2034" (Jancis Robinson - 2024)

About the wine:
This is one of Etna's flagship wines. The Benanti 2018 Etna Rosso Riserva Alberello Centenario Serra della Contessa Particella n° 587 quickly evolves to tertiary definition with aromas of raisin and crushed rose. This vineyard, planted with century-old vines, is made up of around 85% to 90% Nerello Mascalese and the rest Nerello Cappuccio. Together, these grape varieties give the wine a spicy edge with notes of cracked pepper. Particella n° 587 is located on the south-southeast slope of the volcano, at an altitude of 500 meters. I've walked among these gnarled, twisting vines, and it's one of Sicily's most beautiful vineyards. Production of this wine is limited to 2,964 bottles.
