"Grown on the estate's century-old vineyard, located on the most volcanic slope of Mount Etna, this cuvée for wine enthusiasts leaves an unforgettable impression."
“Softer on the nose than the 2019; peonies, a hint of cigar. Back to that very Nerello Mascalese acidity of apricot and blood orange. Layers of flowers and veined stone, tannins reminiscent of satin and sand. Long acidity, long tannins, long finish, a broad swirl, crushed plums, and taffeta. Very tactile, it seems to pucker on the palate and offer a greater surface area of flavor. I love this one. It piques your curiosity, inviting you to dive into it, to explore it, and to linger. Violets and a touch of spice. It has such a sweet heart. A kiss of peach and red cherry. 2025–2034” (Jancis Robinson – 2024)

About the wine:
This is one of Etna’s flagship wines. The 2018 Benanti Etna Rosso Riserva Alberello Centenario Serra della Contessa Particella No. 587 is rapidly developing tertiary characteristics, with aromas of raisins and crushed roses. This vineyard, planted with century-old vines, is composed of approximately 85% to 90% Nerello Mascalese, with the remainder being Nerello Cappuccio. Together, these grape varieties give the wine a spicy character with notes of crushed pepper. Particella No. 587 is located on the south-southeast slope of the volcano, at an elevation of 500 meters. I walked among these gnarled and winding vines, and it is one of the most beautiful vineyards in Sicily. Production of this wine is limited to 2,964 bottles.
