Etna
Etna is an ancient wine-growing region, representing the quintessence of volcanic terroir and a typical character of extraordinary richness. The volcano of the same name is the highest in Europe, and the DOC today covers 1,200 hectares spread over the volcano's slopes.
Etna offers an absolutely fantastic palette of climates, terroirs and geological conditions, creating wines of unique freshness and character.
The native grape varieties grown in Etna Rosso are predominantly Nero Mascalese and Nero Cappuccio. Etna Bianco, on the other hand, features Carricante grapes (at least 60% of the blend), as well as Catarratto, Trebbiano and Minnella.
As for the aromas typical of reds, they generally combine tart red fruits, violets, a few smoky or earthy notes, and some oaky flavours.Etna's whites are characterized by citrus, white-fleshed fruit and green fruit with mineral and smoky nuances.
