"This Vin Jaune is a real Gem "
"Benoît Badoz likes to point out that vin jaune is what’s known as a ‘veil wine,’ a term derived from the famous veil of yeast that protects it from oxidation. This is why, once opened, it can be kept for several days without spoiling, and you can then, at your leisure, return—as we do here—to its aromas of dried fruit, marzipan, and apple pie, delicately punctuated by peppery notes. Then one discovers a “traditional” palate—as one taster describes it, in the best sense of the term—with more dried fruit and a lovely lemony finish.” (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

About the estate:
He represents the tenth generation of the Badoz family in Poligny. After studying at the Beaune wine school, he returned to the estate in 2003 and inaugurated the winemaking facility in 2004. It took him some time to make the switch to organic farming, but he obtained certification in 2019. The estate’s vineyards are located in the Roussots and Grands Roussots lieux-dits. Half of the estate is planted with Savagnin, though that doesn’t mean the reds should be overlooked. He takes barrel aging a bit further on certain cuvées.
