"This Vin Jaune is a real Gem "

"Benoît Badoz likes to point out that vin jaune is a so-called 'veil wine,' a term derived from the famous yeast veil that protects it from oxidation. This is why, once opened, it can be kept for several days without spoiling, and why one can then, at leisure, return—as here—to its aromas of dried fruit, marzipan, and apple pie, delicately punctuated by peppery notes. Then one discovers a palate that is “old-fashioned,” as one taster describes it—in the best sense of the term—with more dried fruit and a lovely lemony finish.” (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

Wine rated (2026 guide) 90/100

Winery rated 1 star (A high-quality, recommended wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

He represents the tenth generation of the Badoz family in Poligny. After studying at the Beaune wine school, he returned to the estate in 2003 and opened the winery in 2004. It took him some time to transition to organic farming, but he obtained certification in 2019. The estate’s vineyards are located in the Roussots and Grands Roussots vineyard sites. Half of the estate is planted with Savagnin, though that doesn’t mean the reds should be overlooked. He pushes barrel aging a bit further on certain vintages.
