About the estate:
Marie Boudal meticulously tends her old vines (24 hectares of organic cultivation)—comprising Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvèdre (some of which are over 70 years old)—clinging to the steep slopes of Roquessels in the Faugères appellation. She has two labels: Ch. des Peyregrandes and Dom. Bénézech-Boudal.

Review and comment by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 10/23/2023
My opinion of this 2021 Faugères is somewhat mixed; to its credit, however, it has a tight structure due to its youth. After a dense and juicy attack, the palate reveals concentrated flavors of jammy cherry and blackberry, licorice, and spices, combined with notes of Mediterranean scrub. These are supported by a full-bodied structure and firm tannins that should refine and integrate over the next two to three years. Curiously, there is a noticeable absence of oak, despite extended aging partly in new oak barrels. A bit more depth and length would have elevated it to a higher level. Today, the still slightly wild, even somewhat rustic character of this cuvée paired well with a Lozère sausage grilled à la plancha and served with aligot. Rating = 3.7.
