"A delicious white wine"

Clear and brilliant with green highlights, the Sainte Agnès cuvée seduces from the very first glass. The expressive and complex nose reveals citrus, white-fleshed fruits, and dried fruits. The attack on the palate is full, precise, and rich, with perfect balance. The aromas emanating from the glass are reflected on the palate, and the finish is full and fresh.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Three Ravaille brothers, Jean-Marc, Pierre, and Xavier, are as comfortable on Pic Saint-Loup as the three fish on the labels would be in water. They had to change the estate's historic name, l'Ermitage du Pic Saint-Loup, so as not to compete with the well-known Rhône appellation. The Sainte-Agnès red blends the four main Languedoc grape varieties, while the white is based on half Roussanne. The move towards biodynamics has been underway for several years. Sainte-Agnès regularly ranks as the archetype of Pic Saint-Loup reds.

Wine rating (2021 guide) 89/100 (2019 vintage)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

L'Héritage du Pic-Saint-Loup is a historic terroir located on the grounds of the former convent of Château de Montferrand. The first winegrowers began cultivating these vineyards in the 12th century. This jewel of the appellation, directly backed by the Pic, is now run by the Ravaille family, who are responsible for introducing Syrah, now the dominant grape variety in the appellation. In 1992, the latest generation, Xavier, Pierre, and Jean-Marc, decided to leave the cooperative to vinify these beautiful high-altitude lands. High standards in the vineyard, precision in expression, and controlled power are the current characteristics of the estate's production, which is a benchmark in the appellation.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 09/20/2021

After the Grande Cuvée de l'Hortus and Manon du Clos Marie, could this be a new Grand Blanc du Pic? I doubt it a little, even if some are whispering about it behind the scenes. In the meantime, it is true that Sainte-Agnès is atypical due to its dark yellow color and its blend. On the palate, the ample mineral freshness contrasts with the roundness of yellow fruits, notes of fennel, and a delicate woodiness. The finish is short with a hint of lemon zest and bitter nuances. Paired at 10°C with the iodine and aniseed flavors of a Grau-du-Roi sea bream with fennel. Rating = 3.8 V.
