"A real discovery for this vintage from a micro appellation, full of finesse and freshness."

Formerly known as La Main de l'Homme, this Languedoc red wine, made from a typically southern blend and vinified without sulfur, continues to delight. Voluptuous, distinctive, and elegant, it is built on a framework of red fruits enhanced with spices and pepper. Its freshness brings an airy balance. A pure Languedoc product!

About the estate:

On the outskirts of Narbonne and on the banks of the Bages lake, the Quartouze plateau is a historic Languedoc terroir with rounded pebble soils. The bishops of the city and the Aude region had vineyards here. In 1983, engineer Georges Ortola bought an abandoned vineyard, then a second one five years later. Today, he and his children Hélène and Nelson farm 120 hectares using biodynamic methods. His vineyard is used as pasture for sheep in winter.

Review and opinion by Mr. MATHIEU W. Published on 05/11/2025

Dark ruby color with a purple core. On the nose, ripe red and dark fruit (yes, even strawberries), followed by garrigue, green herbs, forest soil, wood. But also vanilla and toffee. Quite complex. On the palate, lots of ripe red fruit, strawberries again, but also raspberries and red berries and some unripe blackberries. High in acidity, but that makes it fresh and crisp. Sufficient body, balance, and length. A wine with character, substance, and typicity. Score: 16+/20

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 02/18/2025

Moderate power compared to previous vintages, balancing freshness, and superb concentration perfectly define this full-bodied, sun-kissed cuvée, with a dynamic aromatic blend of ripe, juicy red fruits and white pepper. It delivers subtle, silky tannins on a structure that is so delicious and luscious that one cannot help but wholeheartedly endorse it. The final sensation on the palate is lively. Remarkable value for money. A very southern wine reminiscent of Gigondas. Already open, without any harshness or woodiness, it has plenty of charm to be enjoyed after aeration with a herb-crusted Aubrac rib of beef cooked over vine cuttings. Rating = 4.3.
