In 2015, this estate dropped its apostrophe to become simply Baronarques. It presented this cuvée, which the producer considers to be its second wine: the blend does not include any Cabernet grapes; aging is divided between vats and barrels. Second wine? For tasters, it stands out from the crowd, like the 2011, which was distinguished before it. Intense and deep red in color, this vintage offers a nose centered on red fruits and cherries, enhanced with spices, and proves excellent on the palate, with its elegant attack, ample, structured body, and vibrant aromas of jammy red fruits, tinged with hints of mocha from the barrel. Fruit, structure, and complexity. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2017 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2025 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About wine:
Late vintage, harvest began on October 11. Slightly closed nose with notes of peony and rose. The palate is dense, fairly strict at this stage in terms of tannins, but with serious potential.
About the estate:
A thorough understanding of the terroir (43 hectares of clay-limestone soil) enables the production of accomplished wines. The blend varies according to the vintage, between Atlantic grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon) and Mediterranean varieties (Syrah, Malbec, Grenache). The Chardonnays produce one of the best whites in the appellation. A new barrel cellar inaugurated in 2018 ensures the estate's progress and ambition. Managed like a classified growth, it is a safe bet.

About wine:
In 2015, this estate dropped its apostrophe to become simply Baronarques. It presented this cuvée, which the producer considers to be its second wine: the blend does not include any Cabernet (for this 2013, 58% Merlot, with Syrah and Malbec to complement it); and it is aged in both vats and barrels. A second wine? For tasters, it stands out from the crowd, like the 2011, which was distinguished before it. Intense and deep red in color, this vintage offers a nose centered on red fruits and cherries, enhanced with spices, and proves excellent on the palate, with its elegant attack, ample, structured body and vibrant aromas of jammy red fruits, tinged with hints of mocha from the barrel. Fruit, structure and complexity.
About the estate:
Formerly owned by Saint-Polycarpe Abbey in the 17th century, this estate (now covering 43 hectares) was acquired in 1998 by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild (Château Mouton-Rothschild in Pauillac) and her two sons, who completely renovated the vineyard and winery, turning it into one of the appellation's most reliable performers.
