"A precise and vibrant white wine with a beautiful personality!"

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2025 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

A thorough understanding of the terroir (43 hectares of clay-limestone soil) enables the production of accomplished wines. The blend varies according to the vintage, between Atlantic grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon) and Mediterranean varieties (Syrah, Malbec, Grenache). The Chardonnays produce one of the best whites in the appellation. A new barrel cellar inaugurated in 2018 ensures the estate's progress and ambition. Managed like a classified growth, it is a safe bet.

About the estate:

Formerly owned by Saint-Polycarpe Abbey in the 17th century, this estate (now covering 43 hectares) was acquired in 1998 by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild (Château Mouton-Rothschild in Pauillac) and her two sons, who completely renovated the vineyard and winery, turning it into one of the appellation's most reliable performers.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated 91/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

A lovely fruity, aromatic, fresh nose that offers brightness and richness. The wine benefits from being decanted. It reveals bright notes of white peach and pear, combined with hints of ripe citrus and subtle touches of fresh, juicy apricot, a discreet hint of zest and a subtle hint of kumquat. The palate is beautifully balanced, offering freshness, richness, roundness, deliciousness and a hint of acidity. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of pulpy pear and crushed nectarine combined with hints of kumquat citrus, crushed white berries, a subtle hint of verbena, and a subtle hint of fresh herbs. A very subtle hint of minerality and a lovely buttery note. Beautiful freshness.

Wine rated 91+/100

About wine:

There are attractive yellow and green reflections that almost compete for visual attention, indicating a certain tension in this wine between the richer, riper, fuller notes and the more structured, structuring acidity. This is reflected in the fruit profile: pear and a hint of peach and nectarine on the one hand, quince, mandarin, and squeezed lemon on the other. The two aspects find a beautiful harmony and provide an appealing, attractive, yet elegant and refined introduction to this great wine.
