Plô Roucarels - Limoux 2011

Plô Roucarels - Limoux 2011

Despite being vinified and aged in barrels, this white Limoux exhibits a lovely aromatic freshness. The oak notes are well-integrated, as if to give way to the wine’s minerality. Delicate hints of almonds and white fruit lend richness and complexity to this wine, which is ready to be enjoyed to the fullest!

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the estate:

Julia Hubrich and Julien Gil are two passionate young winemakers who have been based for less than ten years on a rocky plateau just outside the Limoux appellation. They cultivate and vinify their nine hectares in the most natural way possible: “It’s not the cellar that improves the wine, but the work done by hand in the vineyard.” One cannot help but admire the progress and consistency of all the estate’s wines, which have become a must-try.

Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

Two young winemakers and a young winery, established in 2006. Originally from Dresden, Julia trained in Montpellier and the Bordeaux region. As for Julien, a native of southern France who has been passionate about cooking and wine since his teens, he spent some time in the Médoc to learn the trade. The couple began by “saving” 2 hectares of old Carignan vines slated for uprooting, then acquired vineyards in the Limoux AOC. In total, 10 hectares.
