“Las Planelos? The name of the sandy-clay plot that gave rise to this Chenin and Chardonnay blend. The nose combines notes of broom, apricot, and fresh hazelnut, subtly underscored by a delicate hint of vanilla. A harmonious profile that carries through to a soft palate, featuring a touch of sweetness perfectly balanced by crisp acidity. A lovely finish with notes of linden honey, fig, and toast. ” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins) A Limoux that rivals the great wines of the Languedoc!

Wine rated (2020 guide) 14/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the wine:

A powerful, ripe, and well-integrated nose, with soft vanilla, white fruit, bergamot, and lily. The palate is warm and full-bodied, with slightly pronounced oak, a hint of bitterness, and a fresh finish. Full of character. For fans of rich, oaky whites, this one is very well made.

About the estate:

Julia Hubrich and Julien Gil are two passionate young winemakers who have been based for less than ten years on a rocky plateau just outside the Limoux appellation. They cultivate and vinify their nine hectares in the most natural way possible: “It’s not the cellar that improves the wine, but the work done by hand in the vineyard.” One cannot help but admire the progress and consistency of all the estate’s wines, which have become a must-try.

About the wine:

Las Planelos? The name of the sandy-clay plot that gave rise to this Chenin and Chardonnay blend. The nose combines notes of broom, apricot, and fresh hazelnut, subtly underscored by a delicate hint of vanilla. This harmonious profile is carried through to the palate, which is soft and supple, featuring a touch of sweetness perfectly balanced by crisp acidity. A lovely finish with notes of linden honey, fig, and toast.

About the estate:

Two young winemakers and a young winery, established in 2006. Originally from Dresden, Julia trained in Montpellier and the Bordeaux region. As for Julien, a native of southern France who has been passionate about cooking and wine since his teens, he spent some time in the Médoc to learn the trade. The couple began by “saving” 2 hectares of old Carignan vines slated for uprooting, then acquired vineyards in the Limoux AOC. In total, 10 hectares.
