Mas Champart
Mas Champart is an estate established in 1976 in Saint-Chinian, in the Languedoc region, thanks to the vision of Isabelle Champart. Since then, through the gradual acquisition of old vines and neglected plots, as well as significant financial and human investments, Mas Champart is now able to make the most of its 16-hectare vineyard. Today, the estate is in the expert hands of Nicolas Gaignon (Vignoble du Loup Blanc), who will continue the work begun and devote himself to exciting new projects.
The soils of Saint-Chinian, where Mas Champart’s vines are planted, feature a complex geology that creates a mosaic of terroirs: stony limestone plateaus, clay-limestone hillsides, and cooler, more humid lower slopes. Mas Champart’s wines reflect and convey the richness, subtlety, and diversity of these terroirs and grape varieties. As has been the case since the estate’s inception, about a quarter of the harvest is sent to the Saint-Chinian cooperative winery, with the remainder vinified on the estate. Mas Champartprimarily produces wines under the Saint-Chinian AOC, with the exception of a “confidential” cuvée classified as Vin de Pays d’Oc. Mas Champart’s Saint-Chinian wines are produced in all three styles through blends of Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvèdre for the reds; Marsanne, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, or Grenache for the whites; and Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Syrah for the rosés.
