“Grown on slate-rich soil, this Cabernet Franc reveals an enticing, understated nose of ripe black berries and charcoal. A hint of herbaceousness refreshes a generous, full-bodied, and sun-kissed palate, featuring rich, slightly gripping tannins. An appealing, distinctive red, perfect for a rare duck breast.” (Le Guide Hachette 2024).

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 1*Star (A high-quality, recommended production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
Victor and Vincent Lebreton are true ambassadors of the Coteaux-de-l’Aubance. The brothers took over the family estate in 1986 and cultivate 60 hectares of vineyards across various plots and types of schist soil. This allows them to craft single-vineyard wines with subtle nuances, reflecting the character of the blue schist (Le-Tertereaux), gray schist (Clos-des-Huttières), or purple schist (Le-Clos-Prieur). A welcoming winery with reasonable prices. The range’s best wines come from the Aubance, as one would expect. The reds are simple and approachable, designed for immediate enjoyment.

About the estate:
This estate, located just outside Angers, is a regional benchmark, particularly for its “Angevin delicacies,” featuring superb Coteaux-de-l’Aubance wines on the menu. At the helm of the estate founded by his grandfather, Victor, and developed by his father—also named Victor—Vincent Lebreton, who has been in charge since 1995, manages (in a very thoughtful manner) 75 hectares of slate-schist terroir. The sixth generation now works alongside him.
