The first Cabernet Sauvignon vines were planted on the Coulaine plot in 1942. With its sandy and schist soils, the Anjou Villages Clos de Coulaine cuvée offers fruity aromas and freshness, all wrapped up in a full-bodied palate. A rich, balanced wine that, according to the winemaker, pays tribute to the appellation. Beautiful body!

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

This 45-hectare vineyard, 80% of which is planted with Chenin, produces a wide range of white wines. René handles the winemaking, while his older brother Christophe tends the vines. They aren’t organic, to be sure, but the soil is worked “their own way.” In the cellar, the same meticulous care prevails, with a variety of vats of all kinds (stainless steel, cement, cylindrical, buried, 30-hectoliter wooden vats by Stockinger...), suited to crafting nuanced and complex wines. The sweet wines are the estate’s greatest strength, as is the Savennières series (13 hectares), impeccably balanced.

About the estate:

This 46-hectare estate, formed by the merger of two family-run vineyards, has been managed by René Papin since 2010. It is particularly renowned for the quality of its white wines, both dry and sweet. A must-visit.
