Rated Estate (2026 Guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Benoît arrived at the family estate in Bourgueil in 2003 to continue the family venture started by his father, Yannick, in 1997. Two-thirds of the vineyards are located in Bourgueil, with the remainder in the neighboring Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellation. You can sense the winemakers’ perfectionism and their commitment to expressing the terroirs through Cabernet Franc wines that are silky smooth and refined, yet retain vibrant fruit. The estate has been certified organic since 2009, and the wines gain in purity each year thanks to increasingly precise winemaking techniques (truncated-cone wooden vats, barrels, and stoneware jars). The 2022 and 2023 vintages delight us with their frank, clean expression and finesse.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Published on August 22, 2024

In this outstanding year of 2018, the Grand Clos—now fully open—benefits from excellent aging that gives it an aromatic profile as broad as it is intense. The relatively powerful and straightforward tannins are characterized by fresh acidity without harshness, along with floral and tart black fruit flavors, combined with smoky and earthy notes, as well as a hint of spice. Full-bodied and impressively voluminous, the palate offers a dynamic sensation, enhanced by a fine, chalky grain and a refined, silky texture. Superb graphite-like persistence on the finish. A real bargain at €16 in 2020. Best enjoyed over the next six years with tender veal chops in chanterelle cream sauce, served with tagliatelle. Rating = 4.2.
