“A gourmet rosé—absolutely delicious!”

“Made from direct pressing and aged in barrels, Yannick Amirault’s 2022 Rosé d’Equinoxe (made exclusively from Cabernet Franc) exudes a fresh and lively bouquet with aromas of flowers, peach, citrus, star anise, red berries, and spices, followed by a taut and energetic palate, juicy and fresh, and a delicate, long, and penetrating finish. The acidity, which underpins the whole, is vibrant and racy.” (Wine Advocate 2023)

Wine rated 90/100

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Benoît joined the family estate in Bourgueil in 2003 to carry on the family venture started by his father, Yannick, in 1997. Two-thirds of the vineyards are located in Bourgueil, with the remainder in the neighboring appellation of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil. You can sense the winemakers’ perfectionism and their desire to capture the essence of the terroirs through very silky and refined Cabernet Francs that still retain vibrant fruit. The estate has been certified organic since 2009, and the wines gain in purity each year thanks to increasingly precise winemaking methods (truncated wooden vats, barrels, and stoneware jars). The 2022 and 2023 vintages delight us with their frank, clean expression and finesse.

This rosé is a surprising discovery that goes against the current trend in rosés. While retaining plenty of freshness, the palate remains well-balanced, with a slightly vinous density and an alluring roundness. The texture is silky, with a hint of butteriness, marked by aromas of tangy English candy, enveloped in delicate floral notes. The finish is elegant, building in mineral intensity. This quintessential gastronomic rosé is refined and hedonistic. It is best paired with refined dishes, such as roasted scallops with fresh green asparagus cream. Rating = 4.1.
