About the estate:
Yannick and Benoît Amirault are perfectionist winemakers who made a natural transition to organic farming. They cultivate 19 hectares of Cabernet Franc, two-thirds of which are in Bourgueil and the rest in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, with a rich heritage of old vines in each area.

About the wine:
This 2023 vintage captures the vibrancy and elegance of the estate’s wines, blending grapes from vineyards located on the Bourgueil terrace (primarily sandy and gravelly soils). The very pure nose, with notes of raspberry coulis, reveals the Breton grape’s perfect ripeness. The palate displays the same fullness, with a supple, smooth, and very crisp style. Best enjoyed while it’s still young and fruity.

With vineyards in Saint-Nicolas and Bourgueil, Yannick Amirault is one of the most reliable names in these two appellations. His son Benoît now cultivates the estate’s 19 hectares using organic methods.

About the estate:
Benoît arrived at the family estate in Bourgueil in 2003 to continue the family venture started by his father, Yannick, in 1997. Two-thirds of the vineyards are located in Bourgueil, with the remainder in the neighboring Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil appellation. You can sense the winemakers’ perfectionism and their commitment to expressing the terroirs through Cabernet Franc wines that are silky smooth and refined, yet retain vibrant fruit. The estate has been certified organic since 2009, and the wines gain in purity each year thanks to increasingly precise winemaking techniques (truncated-cone wooden vats, barrels, and stoneware jars). The 2022 and 2023 vintages delight us with their frank, clean expression and finesse.

Amirault, as consistently remarkable as ever in the quality of its wines, delivers a lovely, lively, and expressive Bourgueil with this 2023 vintage. Highlighted by a delicate graphite-like acidity that lends a more restrained freshness than in the past, the palate offers a superbly supple, concentrated, and silky wine, enveloped in a pleasant sweetness centered around savory notes of ripe fruit—full of vitality and subtly spiced—supported by lovely, present yet well-integrated tannins. The equally indulgent finish concludes with elegance and length. Excellent value for money. Appetizing and fresh, the Côte 50 2023 is already a delight to enjoy with simple, everyday dishes, such as thick slices of braised Vendée ham and mojettes beans with tomato, or veal liver with balsamic vinegar and mashed potatoes. Rating = 4.2.
