Rated estate (2026 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

Yannick and Benoît Amirault are perfectionist winemakers who naturally transitioned to organic farming. They cultivate 19 hectares of Cabernet Franc, two-thirds of which are in Bourgueil and the rest in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, with a rich heritage of old vines in each vineyard.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2026) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the wine:

This 2023 vintage captures the brilliance and elegance of the estate’s wines, blending grapes from vineyards situated on the Bourgueil terrace (primarily sandy and gravelly soils). The nose, very pure and featuring notes of raspberry coulis, reveals the perfect ripeness of the Breton grape. The palate displays the same fullness, with a refined, supple, and very crisp style. Best enjoyed while it’s still young and fruity.

About the estate:

With vineyards in Saint-Nicolas and Bourgueil, Yannick Amirault is one of the most reliable names in these two appellations. His son Benoît now cultivates the estate’s 19 hectares using organic methods.

Wine rated (2025 Guide) 92/100 (Issue No. 692 – July/August 2025)

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the wine:

An irresistible fruity and floral nose, full of youthfulness and vibrancy. This sensation carries through to the palate, which is full-bodied and driven by mouth-watering tannins. Delicious.

About the estate:

Benoît joined the family estate in Bourgueil in 2003 to carry on the family venture started by his father, Yannick, in 1997. Two-thirds of the vineyards are located in Bourgueil, with the remainder in the neighboring appellation of Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil. You can sense the winemakers’ perfectionism and their desire to capture the expression of the terroirs through very silky and refined Cabernet Francs that still retain vibrant fruit. The estate has been certified organic since 2009, and the wines gain in purity each year thanks to increasingly precise winemaking methods (truncated wooden vats, barrels, and stoneware jars). The 2022 and 2023 vintages delight us with their frank, clean expression and finesse.

Review by Mr. GILLES D. Posted on May 28, 2025

Amirault, as consistently remarkable as ever in the quality of its wines, delivers a lovely, lively, and expressive Bourgueil with this 2023 vintage. Highlighted by a delicate graphite-like acidity that brings a more restrained freshness than in the past, the palate offers a superb, supple, concentrated, and silky juice, enveloped in a pleasant sweetness around savory flavors of ripe fruit, full of vitality and subtly spiced, supported by lovely, present yet well-integrated tannins. The equally indulgent finish concludes with elegance and length. Excellent value for money. Appetizing and fresh, Côte 50 2023 is already a delight to drink with simple, everyday dishes, such as thick slices of braised Vendée ham and tomato-braised white beans, or veal liver with balsamic vinegar and mashed potatoes. Rating = 4.2.
