"A racy Chenin with a beautiful airy structure and impressive balance."

This white Chinon "Les Pieds Rôtis" comes from a plot with very warm clay-limestone soil marked by white tuffeau chalk. Sunny and generous with exotic notes, it oscillates between bitterness and fine acidity. The palate is mineral and smoky, with a hint of pepper. A beautiful expression of Chenin that pairs well with roast poultry or Asian dishes made with coconut milk.

Rated estate (2025 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

The new generation at the helm of Bonnaventure, Jean and Tatiana, are making great strides in developing this historic estate. The age of the vines and the shift towards organic farming methods are contributing to the growing success of this property, which offers good value for money. A highly recommended range from a reputable producer.

Rated estate (2025 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

The property has been in the Bonnaventure family since the Middle Ages, when the vineyards of the historic Turpenay estate were planted. In 1988, Étienne and Pascale de Bonnaventure undertook the expansion of the estate. They revived the spirit of the great wines of Beaumont, the first step in the Chinon appellation, on the Loire side, where Cabernets, under more oceanic influence, gain in delicacy and fruit finesse compared to those in the east of the appellation. Château de Coulaine now produces a brilliant range of organic Chinons, combining fresh fruit and elegant texture. The vintages do not obscure the expression of the terroirs: the suppleness (clay and silica of Beaumont) in Château de Coulaine and the fresh firmness of the clay-limestone soils in Les Picasses, Clos de Turpenay (south-facing) and La Diablesse (in its old vine version, north-facing). Since January 2017, Jean de Bonnaventure, the son of Étienne and Pascale, has been at the helm of the estate and is continuing the family's history with rigor, tact, and sensitivity.
