“This cuvée is made from vines ranging from 50 to 70 years old, still somewhat constrained by a year of oak aging in barrels. It displays elegant, restrained aromas that preserve a very natural expression of the fruit, with a smooth, well-defined finish and a firm, graphite-like structure that will need to open up over the next few years.” (The Guide to the Best Wines of France 2019 - RVF) A Loire red just the way we like it!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Frédéric Sigonneau has revived the family estate: this newcomer to Chinon cut his teeth at Antoine Foucault. His six hectares in Cravant are certified organic, though he avoids the extremes of sulfur-free winemaking for most of his wines. The “Folies-du-Noyer-Vert” wines are aged in oak and are intended for short-term aging.

About the estate:
After spending two years in Spain (at Dominio de Atauta in the Ribera del Duero), Frédéric Sigonneau founded his winery in 2007 using the vineyards from his family’s estate in Cravant-lès-Coteaux. His vineyard now covers 8 hectares and is farmed organically, with a focus on biodynamic practices.

About the wine:
This cuvée is made from vines ranging from 50 to 70 years old, and is still somewhat constrained by a year of oak aging in barrels. It exhibits elegant, restrained aromas that preserve a very natural expression of the fruit, with a smooth, well-defined finish featuring a graphite-like firmness that will need to open up over the next few years.
About the estate:
After gaining experience in Spain (Ribera del Duero with Bertrand Sourdais), Frédéric Sigoneau returned to his home region and, in 2007, took over several plots in Cravant-les-Coteaux. He is committed to managing the vineyard and producing wine as naturally as possible. The estate is now in full swing with several distinctive cuvées. Frédéric’s keen sense of fruit is evident in the Les 5 Éléments cuvée. Try to track down one of the rare bottles of Les Mains Sales for a truly indulgent experience.
