“Another fine achievement from this estate, a regular in our guide! Here is a Chinon full of freshness and length, with a full-bodied, velvety texture, in a style that is at once early-drinking, deep, and refined. You’ll want to stock up on this without breaking the bank. ” (The 2015 Guide to Wine Bargains - Gerbelle & Maurange). An aromatic and pleasant wine, with notes of raspberry, blackcurrant, and violet… Remarkable!

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

Established since 1981 on part of the family estate in Cravant-les-Coteaux, Pierre Sourdais cultivates his 27 hectares of vineyards using organic farming methods, with some plots on the plains and others on the hillsides. The “Réserve Stanislas” and “Les Boulaies” vintages are the ones to seek out first; they produce the wines with the richest tannic structure and the greatest aging potential.

Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

It was at the Moulin-à-Tan that oak bark was once ground for use in tanning hides at the region’s many tanneries. Today, the old mill has given way to a 27-hectare organic vineyard run by Pierre Sourdais, who is gradually passing the business on to his daughter Caroline and his son-in-law Sylvain. A sure bet in the Chinon region.
