"Aging in terracotta eggs accentuates the roundness of this vintage. Full-bodied, ample, and flavorful. A vinous Muscadet for winter." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2019 - RVF) A salty tension, beautiful freshness, and a slightly tannic finish. A Muscadet off the beaten track, silky and elegant!

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
Jean-Jacques Bonnet and Vincent Pineau are the duo at the helm of this family estate, which is run biodynamically with the aim of bringing out the best in the gneiss, micaschist, amphibolite, and granite soils. All the wines are increasingly expressive of their terroirs, with the communal Goulaine vintage being a superb success, powerful and built for aging.

About wine:
Aging in terracotta eggs accentuates the roundness of this vintage. Full-bodied, ample, and flavorful. A vinous Muscadet for winter.
About the estate:
The Bonnet-Huteau family has presided over the destiny of the family estate for 150 years. Today, two passionate winemakers, Jean-Jacques Bonnet and Vincent Pineau, manage the 40-hectare property, which was certified biodynamic in 2010. Four terroirs are vinified separately to bring out their finest expression. On Les Dabinières – warm gneiss and micaschist soil – the fruit expresses itself with roundness. On the amphibolite and micaschist of Les Gautronnières, the melon becomes mineral and taut. The poor, granitic soils of Les Laures produce a denser, more complete wine. Produced in the best years and aged for 18 months on lees (the minimum requirement), the Goulaine communal wine is deep and ready for aging. While the wines are full of energy, we have some reservations about the Medolia cuvée, whose aging in dolia seems to weaken its natural vitality.

A "vin de France" that stands out from our usual Muscadet selections, but with a beautifully controlled richness that should age well...in a good cellar!
